Our Horses (and friends)

Meet the true heroes of Mighty Minds!

It takes a special kind of horse to be a Mighty Minds horse. All of our horses are carefully selected and vetted, with many of them being rescues. We take a great deal of pride in the training, care, and condition of our herd as this directly impacts the experiences of our riders, many of whom are young, new riders, special needs, or all three. Unhappy horses do unhappy things like kick and buck, so we work very hard to bring in only the best horses for our particular students, and once we have them we keep them happy by treating them like kings and queens. Regular grooming, ferrier visits, vet checks, body work, PEMF treatment, top quality feed, and of course lots of LOVE are all part of the care we provide to our herd every day!

Typically we also keep more horses than we need on given day, so that we can keep lesson loads light and rest any horses that might be showing signs of injury or fatigue, or maybe are just feeling a bit sour. If we have a horse that isn't 100% on a given day, we'll let them have a break and bring another horse in. We even have a small, off-site retreat where the horses can go to relax for longer stretches of time and enjoy being be doted on. Some might say that our horses are spoiled and well, they'd be right. Spoiled horses are happy horses and happy horses are good horses. It's a lot of extra work for the humans, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
